Colorado will soon start licensing dental therapists in effort to help expand oral health care options

A 2022 bill provided the means for licensing dental therapists, a mid-level provider who could narrow the oral health equity gap. But training for them doesn’t exist in Colorado.

Grant to Raising a Reader to Aid Reading, Oral Health

Raising a Reader Aspen to Parachute has received a grant from Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation that will support two existing programs: Bolsitas Rojas, a parent-child education program; and 123 Let's Read, a literacy-readiness program for preschool-age children. In addition, each student will receive an age-appropriate, bilingual oral health book and a toothbrush, toothpaste, and oral health guidance for their parents.

Delta Dental grant helps Community Partnership in Teller county sustain programs

When the coronavirus struck the nation in March, Community Partnership Family Resource Center went into an immediate pivot.

Within a few days of the shutdown announcement, Jodi Mijares director of the nonprofit organization, and her staff, launched a food pantry. “As other agencies started closing, schools, churches, they brought us their food,” Mijares said. “So it just kind of happened.”

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has announced it will provide $3.5 million in funding over three years to 31 Colorado nonprofit organizations to support projects that create accessible oral health care and advance oral health equity. Among them are two local nonprofits, Clinica Family Health and Dental Aid.
