Funding to help improve oral health in Valley

VALLEY — On Wednesday, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation (DDCOF) announced that it will provide $3.4 million in funding over three years to 29 Colorado nonprofit organizations to support projects designed to advance oral health equity in local communities.

New MMH family dental keeps dental hygiene close to home

MMH Family Dental is open in the Family Practice of Holyoke, and patients started seeing the new hygienist, Arika Luedke, Oct. 24.
Finding ways to provide dental services has long been a goal of Melissa Memorial Hospital. For a time, that was achieved through a dentist periodically working at MMH specialty clinics. The recent opening of the full-time dental clinic, however, was made possible by a $185,000 grant received from Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation earlier this year.

Delta Dental endowment recognizes 8 Colorado Northwestern Community College scholars

RANGELY — Eight scholars of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s dental hygiene program were among the first to benefit from a $1.5 million endowment made in 2017 by Delta Dental — the largest nonprofit dental benefits provider in the state.

Tooth Wizard and Plaque Man teach Calhan Elementary students about oral hygiene

With Halloween approaching and October being National Children’s Health Month, the Tooth Wizard and his antagonist, Plaque Man, stopped by Calhan Elementary School in Calhan on Wednesday for some tooth talk with 190 kindergarten through third-grade students.

Land of Smiles brings Laughs and Lessons

The Land of Smiles program sponsored by Delta Dental visited La Junta Primary and Intermediate Schools on Wednesday. The program was hilarious, with the Tooth Wizard (product of University of Northern Colorado Drama Program) and Plaque Man (from Mesa College Drama Department).

Longfellow Elementary School students were transported to the “Land of Smiles” Tuesday along with “Tooth Wizard” and “Plaque Man” to learn about dental health.

STATEWIDE – Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation (DDCOF) has released a request for applications (RFA) from Colorado nonprofit organizations interested in implementing projects or seeking general operating support to advance oral health equity in their communities.

The Dental Hygienist in the Medical Setting

The Colorado Medical-Dental Integration (CO MDI) Project integrates dental hygienists into medical teams to provide oral health services. Funded by Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation (DDCOF) with additional support from the Colorado Health Foundation for Wave II, the project is currently in its fourth year, with funding provided to 26 medical practices.
