Grant proposals of $5,000 to $50,000 are being accepted now through Sept. 1 for any Colorado-based organization or individual with an innovative approach to improve oral health in the state. The Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation Innovation Grants project will make available a total of $200,000 in grant awards.

Moving the Needle on the #1 Chronic Disease of Childhood

The results of a new study by Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation demonstrate the effectiveness of the bilingual Cavities Get Around campaign in the effort to prevent tooth decay, the #1 chronic disease of childhood and a “silent epidemic.” The study, conducted by HealthCare Research, Inc., was given to 600 low-income families in English and Spanish across Colorado, and shows significant progress toward improving child oral health by reducing consumption of juices and drinking more water.

Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. is now offering a variety of preventive dental health services to pediatric patients during regular medical visits at its La Junta Clinic. Under the direction of Registered Dental Hygienist, Charlene Pariera and dental support employee, Lisa Bensley, the services provided include oral health assessments and education, regular cleanings, x-rays, fluoride varnishes and referrals for more comprehensive dental treatment.

Marillac Clinic Now Offering Dental Care at its Mesa County Health Department Location

Marillac Clinic is now offering a variety of preventive dental health services for patients during regular medical visits and by appointment at its clinic located within the Mesa County Health Department. Under the direction of registered dental hygienist Patrick Andrews, the services provided include oral health education for children and adults, exams, regular cleanings, x-rays, fluoride varnishes and sealants. Two rooms at the clinic are specifically dedicated to dental treatment. Dental care is available for patients of all ages.
