Our Story

For more than 20 years, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has been working to make good dental health a community priority. Oral health impacts Coloradans of all ages and, at a broader level, this affects the well-being of our communities. Since dental disease is almost 100 percent preventable, we believe our efforts to improve oral health for everyone will result in a healthier Colorado.

We’re on a Journey

We’re working to define what oral health equity means to us. This journey will help us better understand oral health needs and priorities across Colorado. Our work and focus will be impacted by what we learn.

At this time, our mission is modeled after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 2017 statement:

‘Health equity is achieved when every person has the opportunity to “attain his or her full health potential” and no one is “disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances.”

Outside of direct funding, we partner with community, philanthropic and civic organizations to develop intentional opportunities to promote oral health. We also organize and participate in dialogues on issues that are important to local communities.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the foundation is funded by the nonprofit Delta Dental of Colorado. Together with our partners, we implement innovative programs and public policies.
