Endowed Scholarship in Pediatric Preventive Dentistry Honors Executive Director’s Efforts to Help Colorado Kids Improve Oral Health

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation and the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine have announced the “Barbara Springer Endowed Scholarship in Pediatric Preventive Dentistry.” This scholarship was established to honor Barbara Springer’s commitment to helping the underserved and to pass the torch to the next generation who share her passion for improving the dental health of Colorado’s children.

2016 Innovation Grants Recipients Announced

Five Colorado-based organizations will work to develop next-generation medical devices and new approaches to expand access to quality oral care. Recipients of the 2016 Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation Innovation Grants include researchers, nonprofits and high-tech companies throughout the Front Range.

Allison Cusick Named Executive Director of the Foundation

The Board of Directors of Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation is pleased to announce Allison Cusick, MPA as the new Executive Director. A public health professional with 18 years of nonprofit and oral health leadership experience, Cusick currently serves as the Senior Program Officer for DDCOF. Read the press release.

Peak Family Medicine Now Offering Preventive Dental Care During Regular Medical Visits

August 1, 2016

Peak Family Medicine is now offering a variety of preventive dental health services for children and adults during regular medical visits at its Montrose clinic. All forms of dental insurance, including Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus, are accepted.

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation (DDCOF) has announced the winners of its second annual Oral Health Champion Awards (video link). These awards celebrate efforts to help eradicate the most common chronic disease of childhood: tooth decay.

Accepting Applications for 2016 Innovation Grants

June 29, 2016

Grant proposals of $5,000 to $50,000 are being accepted now through Sept. 1 for any Colorado-based organization or individual with an innovative approach to improve oral health in the state. The Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation Innovation Grants project will make available a total of $200,000 in grant awards.

Moving the Needle on the #1 Chronic Disease of Childhood

January 7, 2016

The results of a new study by Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation demonstrate the effectiveness of the bilingual Cavities Get Around campaign in the effort to prevent tooth decay, the #1 chronic disease of childhood and a “silent epidemic.” The study, conducted by HealthCare Research, Inc., was given to 600 low-income families in English and Spanish across Colorado, and shows significant progress toward improving child oral health by reducing consumption of juices and drinking more water.

Marillac Clinic Now Offering Dental Care at its Mesa County Health Department Location

November 16, 2015

Marillac Clinic is now offering a variety of preventive dental health services for patients during regular medical visits and by appointment at its clinic located within the Mesa County Health Department. Under the direction of registered dental hygienist Patrick Andrews, the services provided include oral health education for children and adults, exams, regular cleanings, x-rays, fluoride varnishes and sealants. Two rooms at the clinic are specifically dedicated to dental treatment. Dental care is available for patients of all ages.

Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. is now offering a variety of preventive dental health services to pediatric patients during regular medical visits at its La Junta Clinic. Under the direction of Registered Dental Hygienist, Charlene Pariera and dental support employee, Lisa Bensley, the services provided include oral health assessments and education, regular cleanings, x-rays, fluoride varnishes and referrals for more comprehensive dental treatment.

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Now Offering Dental Care for Patients During Regular Medical Visits at its Stout Street Health Center

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is now offering a variety of preventive dental health services during regular patient medical visits at its Stout Street Health Center in Denver. The Coalition is offering oral health education for children and adults, exams, cleanings, x-rays and fluoride varnishes. Services are available for patients of all ages, with a special focus on reaching children under 18.

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation Awards $100,000 to Kids in Need of Dentistry

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has awarded $100,000 to Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND) for the 2015-2016 school year. The funding will support KIND’s Chopper Topper school-based sealant program and continued partnership with Land of Smiles, a free oral health theater program presented by Delta Dental of Colorado (DDCO).

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation Announces Mini-Grant Funding Awards to Community Projects Seeking to Improve Children’s Oral Health

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation announced funding awards for projects working to improve children’s oral health in local communities. Eleven organizations have received awards ranging from $1,000 – $15,000 per grant. Total award funding is $100, 962.

Oral Health Groups Applaud Denver Water Board’s Decision to Stay the Course on Fluoridation

The Colorado Dental Association, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation and Oral Health Colorado today issued the following statements on the Denver Water board’s decision to continue optimal fluoridation of the system’s water. Fluoridated drinking water is proven to reduce and prevent tooth decay.

Summit County students are encouraged to take advantage of the last few weeks of summer and come back to school with healthy smiles. Summit Community Care Clinic’s Healthy Smiles Program is currently offering a variety of preventive dental health services at the Summit Middle School health center under the direction of registered dental hygienist Emily Millner.

Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics Expands Dental Care Hours at Aurora Clinic

Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics (RMYC) is now offering preventive dental health services at its Aurora Clinic four days each week. Dental care is available during sick visits or well-child checkups with RMYC medical providers as well as by appointment. RMYC sees children ages newborn – 18 at its Aurora Clinic. All forms of health insurance, including Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus, are accepted.

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation, funded by Colorado’s leading dental benefits company, Delta Dental of Colorado, announced the launch of the Colorado Medical-Dental (CO MDI) Project. This five-year initiative involves the placement of dental hygienists in 16 Colorado primary care medical clinics in an expansive effort to increase access to preventive dental health services.
